PHASE 04 · ASSESS

Validate and rehearse

ASSESS is the rehearsal before the real review. We walk the evidence, test the operating story, identify residual gaps, run agreed tabletop exercises, and give you a corrective-action path before the external decision point.

WHAT THIS PHASE ESTABLISHES

Find the gaps before the buyer, prime, government reviewer, or external assessor finds them. ASSESS validates the evidence, rehearses interviews and demonstrations, adjudicates residual gaps, and produces a readiness package.

THE BUYER PROBLEM
The firm believes it is ready but lacks an independent walkthrough of evidence, interviews, tabletop performance, residual gaps, and readiness decisions.
WHO IT IS FOR

An SMB with an accepted remediation posture that is approaching a self-assessment, prime review, customer audit, contract milestone, or status decision.

WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH

A readiness report with findings and corrective actions, the record of what was actually tested, and a pre-review package you can hand to the reviewer before the external decision point.

LIMITS THAT APPLY HERE

No phase guarantees an outcome.

NO GUARANTEE
ASSESS is not a C3PAO assessment, does not guarantee certification, and does not replace the authority of a government, prime, C3PAO, or other external evaluator. No OORAH phase guarantees an award, a certification, an accounting approval, a safety certification, a legal outcome, revenue, or margin.
CURRENT CMMC POSTURE
CMMC Phase II (Level 2 and Level 3 third-party assessments) has been suspended since 2026-07-13 pending the Department of War reform review, and contracting officers were directed on 2026-09-03 to remove Phase II requirements from solicitations and contracts. Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments, baseline NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 compliance, SPRS, and the DFARS 252.204-7012 safeguarding obligation remain in force. CMMC work is quoted only after the current-posture check.
